The popular Street Learning courses, sponsored by Wealden District Council, are expanding to Wadhust, Uckfield and Jarvis Brook.

The free courses, which are open to everyone who is aged19 or over, have been running in Hailsham and Eastbourne for over a year.

Street Learning provides training and practical skills for a range of subjects to help people get more out of life and improve their employability. Courses range from IT and computer skills to cooking, household financial management, DIY, story writing and a one day course in making the most of your smart phone.

One of the aims of Street Learning is to re-awaken interests and skills that may have been laying dormant as people’s lives change alongside their employment and family roles. The Maths and English Taster courses are for people who may either just want to improve their basic skills or possibly take a qualification in Maths or English to improve their job prospects. It is possible to follow up the English and Maths Taster courses with a City & Guild Functional Course or a GCSE course in the subjects.

It is important to book early for all courses to avoid disappointment. More information is available on the Eastbourne Homes website, www.eastbournehomes.org.uk or by telephoning 01323 436436.
