Pevensey is to host Battle Town Band, writes George Stephens, deputy churchwarden at St. Nicolas Church

It is the first concert at the church this year as part of the church’s fund raising programme following the announcement that English Heritage had placed the church in its ‘Heritage at Risk Register’. Tickets are £10.

We are really thrilled to have this excellent local band give a concert in our wonderful acoustics,” said George Stephens, deputy church warden at St. Nicolas.

It will be there third annual concert at the church. They bring variety and flair to their performances with a large and varied repertoire. This ranges from traditional brass band music to modern arrangements. Their concerts regularly feature many of their talented soloists.

The band performs a variety of music from traditional brass band music through to some modern popular pieces.

There is always something for everyone. It will be a varied and interesting programme and includes something to please all audience members,” says Russell Kemp the band’s secretary, adding ‘the band has a fresh exciting programme for the 2015 season.

The band performs throughout the year at venues throughout the South East, including Eastbourne Bandstand, Deal Bandstand and Hever Castle.

Battle Town Band competes annually in the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain, representing London & Southern Counties at the national finals on several occasions. The band is currently the number one band in East Sussex.

There will be an interval with refreshments available.
