Jacky Long and Marylyn Palmer, founders of Inkspot, the creative writing circle based in Pevensey Bay, are celebrating this week as they begin work on a second chapter in their story.
Established a year ago, the group has gone from strength to strength and now enjoys a membership of up to 15 people at each meet, everyone eager to try their hand at first time writing assignments.
The year has seen competitions, guest speakers and the wide variety of ‘themed’ assignments that have engaged interest.
The group usually meets on the first Friday of each month at Pevensey Bay Baptist Church.
This month, because of Easter, the group is meeting this Friday (April 10).
The theme this month is ‘Caught in the Rain’.
Organsiers describe the monthly meet up as ‘a social gathering where you can come and listen to guest speakers, the reading of stories and poems, enjoy refreshments and good company’.
As the group begins a new chapter in its story, the success of the first year is deserving of more than a note in the margin.
It is no mean feat to have launched such an ambitious endeavour that has proved to be both sustainable and of increasing interest every month.
The organisers have established a successful creative group in the Bay.
