SHONA BROWN
Media release Stephen Lloyd MP
Earlier this week I attended the funeral of little Andrea Gada. The funeral had been postponed as the family fought the Home Office’s decision to reject Andrea’s Grandparents and Aunt’s application for temporary travel visas. Thankfully, the relatives were all together in Eastbourne to lay Andrea to rest this Wednesday. It was a beautiful and uplifting service.
Her parents have asked me to thank the huge number of people who’ve supported them throughout this difficult time. Without your support I don’t think we would have succeeded.
I would also like to thank the Church for its role in supporting us. The Gada’s are a devout Christian family and the support they received from across the denominations I know has been particularly important to them. As was Shinewater Primary School. Their Head and a number of staff were also at the funeral offering their support and condolences to the family. The loss of Andrea clearly made a huge impact with the school and the children.
Finally, to the many supporters from across the UK and Eastbourne who contacted me, signed the petition we presented to Downing Street or expressed their support on social media. You all played an important role in helping us step up our battle to right this wrong. I am extremely grateful to you all.
