Affordable Housing

Having helped deliver an affordable housing development in Rotherfield, I am passionate about giving more local people the chance to occupy their own home. Our towns and villages have always expanded to create housing for those looking to leave home. It is crucial, with property prices increasing, that we give hard-working people and their families the chance to remain in their community and bring life to our schools, shops and community. The price of property is currently out of reach for many people. I want to encourage more Parish and Town Councils to champion appropriately sized affordable housing development. My experience in Rotherfield has taught me that it is possible to build attractive housing for local people. All of our properties were allocated to residents with local links and we now have a vibrant close of houses with no issues to the environment. I hope to be able to use my experience to help other parishes build their own affordable housing.

More Jobs, Homes and Investment

The Conservative Council and Government are delivering a new link-road between Bexhill and Hastings. The road will open in June 2015.

  • New Jobs: 42 acres of land in north-east Bexhill is being allocated for the delivery of 500,000 sq ft of new business premises. This will be the largest concentration of employment space in East Sussex and could deliver 3,000 new jobs if filled.
  • New Homes: Up to 2,000 new houses will bring new families to the constituency and will help Bexhill Town Centre to bring more shops, retail and leisure facilities to the town. Putting new housing near the link-road will mean that disproportionate housing in our villages will not be justifiable.
  • New Countryside Park: a new 600 hectare park will provide an opportunity for active recreation, walking, cycling, equestrianism and nature study.
  • New Investment: Experts predict that the new link-road will add £1bl to the local economy over the next 25 years. I want to campaign to bring the new businesses to our constituency and showcase what we have to offer to those relocating to our constituency.

I will be campaigning, lobbying and working hard to bring all of these benefits to our constituency.
