Visitors to this year’s Airbourne will be able to enjoy a brand new entertainment line-up at the free four day event with a new music stage on the beach, and live bands playing into the early evening.
Heading the music line-up, X-Factor star Luke Friend, will be performing, along with Britain’s Got Talent finalists, boy band ‘The Mend’, along with many more acts to be announced.
The 18 year old X Factor star, who recently completed a 34 date X Factor tour, reached last years finals, gathering a huge fan base of ‘friendies’. With his first single due to be released in August and an album in November, fans in Eastbourne will be treated to some of his own music, along with many of the hits he covered during his time on the hit TV show.
Luke announced his Airbourne appearance this week commenting “Airbourne sounds like a fantastic event, I’m really looking forward to performing in Eastbourne for the first time and meeting fans at the beach.”
Heart will also be providing music throughout the day and on Sunday evening, Tom, Nicola and Jack from Heart Breakfast will kick off the Airbourne end of show party for a huge seafront celebration, not to be missed.
Tom Evans at Heart Breakfast said “We’re really excited to be involved with Airbourne this year, it’s a great event to visit as a guest – and with the addition of the brand new Airbourne Live Stage it goes from strength to strength! We cannot wait!”.
Also joining the music line-up, boy band The Mend, will perform some of their own tracks and covers prior to the release of their debut album later this year.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism, Leisure & Sports Services, Cllr Carolyn Heaps said “Airbourne is such a fun family event for all ages, and this will be the perfect excuse to stay into the early evening and avoid the rush hour traffic on the way home. Luke Friend is the perfect choice to headline this year’s brand new entertainment format, he has such a strong family appeal across all generations, incredible talent and great beach hair!”
Shadow Cabinet Member for Tourism, Leisure & Sports Services, Cllr Philip Ede said “Fans will be looking forward to seeing Luke – he’s sure to receive a warm Eastbourne welcome! We are very lucky to see him at Airbourne just as he makes his debut in the UK charts, and with four days of live music and many more acts to be announced, we’re in for a real treat!”
With all daytime music and entertainment taking place on the beach this year, the Western Lawns arena will now be replaced by an extended military exhibition featuring even more RAF, Army and Navy assets than ever before, including a new field hospital, an inflatable assault course, AAC Gazelle and a tank.
The Heart Angels will also be on the beach every day of the airshow with a special Heart viewing zone by the stage, and the opportunity to have your photo taken in Heart’s giant deckchairs, in a fun photo competition.
Airbourne returns from 14 -17 August, with the music stage running from 10am to 7.30pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, followed by Bandstand concerts each evening. On Sunday evening an end of show party from 6pm to 10pm with the Heart Breakfast team will celebrate the culmination of four fantastic days of Airbourne.
