Windsurfer rescued off Pevensey Bay

A windsurfer was rescued after his equipment broke in high winds.

The man was brought back safely to the shore in a joint operation by Eastbourne inshore lifeboat and Bexhill Coastguard Rescue Team at about 5pm this afternoon.

The wind surfer had got into difficulties between Pevensey Bay and Norman’s Bay but despite initial difficulties in locating him, rescue teams were able to bring him back to the shore safely.

The man did not require medical treatment.
