Sweet Home Anderida prepares to Rock
Pvensey Bay is preparing to celebrate the Bay Day in the only way Pevensey Bay knows how, with wit, bather, buntings, our own independence day, lots of drinking, mirth and merriment, homegrown events, total indifference, cynicism and pointers to the costs to the taxpayers by some people and at least one composite biker who is going to celebrate in his own way by telling everyone to ‘bugger roff’
Castle Inn: A particular favourite with Bay Life. There is a seamless ability to get event planning just inch perfect right with their programming.
The piped bunting is out, a simple thread stretched across their historic 17th century hostelr,y feeding discreetly to the new patio area.
Nice simple thread that is perfectly tailored and positioned with a kind of turned down collar Mod Spice Girls subliminal theme, spice up your life class, that marks out what Daina and Paul do with wit and thought with big events.
The patio is done as well now out the back and looks fabulous. Garden Party? We are talking garden party.
Even Bay Cars, a new taxi company based in the Bay, will probably be on speed dial to get people home.
Something of a soul fest in the evening, nicely timed. No doubt an end to the evening with some soul searching, and the kind of harmony, inclusiveness and engagement that will see some lovely warm snogging in the cosy fan tutti fruiti environment that many residents love to call their home.
Bay Life judges this one seamless and beautifully put together as the Big Day Celebration.
Ceremony from 11:00m on screen, Garden Party, FA Cup Final at 5:15pm and then the Innersoul Collective starting at 8:30pm, the ultimate wedding band to the stars, floor filling soul funk and disco classics all night long: The band play a mixture of both contemporary and classic dance floor fillers.
Perfect choice for the Big Day by Paul, the most savvy of savvy musician landlords (he is in a class of his own).
Bay Hotel has Super Saturday with a family day, face painting, fancy dress, special menu, loads of cucumber sandwiches served by Jo in her trademark Dr. Martens Boots that say embodiment of Pevensey Bay.
The rock steady team dressed in Red White and Blue, three screens for the Royal Wedding, so you do not miss a beat and FA Cup Final (5:15pm) , topped off by our very own indigenous sound, the incalculably good Two Hep Cats (7:15pm ish, allow for extra time)
We are talking authentic takes on late forties, fifties blues, jazz and early rock and roll. We are talking Etta James, Connie Francis, Wanda Jackson, early Elvis Presley and Sister Rosetta Tharpe. This train is a coming.
Karen Hudson and her team know how to put on a family party. Brownie points to the Bay Hotel.
The Aqua Bar has gone novel, the Aqua Bar Ethos is always worth the price of the pint or six.
Full programme organised by Melita Cullis who is linked to the Baptist church, perhaps one of our very best homegrown organisers here in the Bay.
She is the brains behind the wonderful Movies in the Bay last Friday in the month feeling that makes us all tingle in delight at the screenings for both kids and us big ones with Steven Spielberg and Frank Capra.
This is a buffet lunch and wedding cake, through the ceremony. Dress as you would dress for a Royal Wedding is her RSVP invitation, or just comfy.
Melita is contagious with her enthusiasm. Maximum places 60, £6:00 per head. Already the bookings are coming in as people on our Facebook Feed, pm Melita with their bookings. This one has to be booked.
We understand that of the 60 tickets on offer, there are 40 that have already gone at the time of writing.
FA Cup Final at 5:15, then in the evening, the full Aqua Bar Ethos gets into gear.
The River Boys, eclectic mix and just right, Rock and Roll and Rockabilly all mates. The River Boys will most certainly rock your blues away.
Then there is the man who we will call composite John.
Last week composite John planed his own one man Bowler and Batter festival.
A fancy Prince Harry Hat from Over the Moon Party Shop in North Road and then a trip to Rose’s Fish Bar. There he plans to ask for their very best large fish and small chips in a cardboard box.
He is going to sit on his own Super Saturday beach with his own Super Saturday Wedding Celebration, with his own Super Saturday take on the Big Day with his party bowler hat and his battered fish, until no-one gets the joke.
He plans to get his kicks on Route A22 with his own burn up that will be a ‘bugger off’ to everyone in true Pevensey Bay spirit.
This will be quite a Big Day in Pevensey Bay.
Without question the Day is bringing out the very best in terms of the spirit of independent quirky enterprise that says Pevensey Bay right through the sweet home Anderida rock that is our home.
Best comment so far on the Bay Life Facebook feed, Chris Hughes, on the encouragement to make his choice about where to be to celebrate the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and the Melita Cullis endeavour at the Aqua Bar.
“shoot me, best bitter in Pev so I’ll still go along for a pint”.
