Westham Village Conservation Group—
Guided Walk
Here’s the poster for the next Health, Heritage, & Wildlife Guided Walk along Peelings Lane on Sunday 21st August, starting at 2pm from Westham Village Pond. The walk is free and includes a free cup of tea/coffee at the walk’s end in Stone Cross Windmill’s delightful cafe.Highlight of the walk will be a commentary from Rosemary Barton, a Westham resident, as we walk along, about the rich heritage of hop growing in the local area, a heritage she was part of in her youth. Reminders of this heritage still endures in the shape of hops growing wild in the hedgerows along Peelings Lane. We will be passing near some oast houses, central to local hop growing, as we pass along the lane.
This walk is part of a series of walks organise by Westham Village Conservation Group in association with Action in Rural Sussex and Stone Cross Windmill.
