WE ARE pleased to be able to report that The Eastbourne branch of the VOICES choir has finally found a new home!

The Choir, which also has a base in Pevensey Bay has been widely praised both for its shows and the way in which it has engaged interest in the community, with up to ninety people performing at any time.

Their show which kicked off a recent Charity weekend at the Castle Inn was marked by a very spirited medley of hits from musicals like Les Mis and early sixties classics from the Phil Spector Wall of Sound.

Not many local grassroots musical groups of this scale and ambition could have pulled off the performance, particularly squeezed (all ninety) onto the side of an articulated truck in the corner of a car park with the possibility of a full storm from the heavens about to break over their heads as they launched into ‘Bring Me Home’.

It is the spirit of the endeavour that is so impressive and the performances, which take place throughout the year in local community halls and other venues. They are marked by the professionalism of the productions as well as the quality and range of the voices that comprise the choir.

Choir Director, Diana Terry told Bay Life yesterday (Friday 6 September) that a new home has now been found in Eastbourne.

‘From the first Wednesday in October, and each subsequent Wednesday, we will be meeting between 7-9 PM at CHRIST CHURCH, Seaside and still at Pevensey Bay Baptist Church every Thursday 7-9pm.

‘We have always been so happy here at the Baptist Church in the Bay…the atmosphere is wonderful! I am convinced that our Eastbourne branch will be just as happy at Christ Church’.

Preparations are now underway for a Christmas concert on 13th December and Bay Life will be keeping you all informed about more details as they become available.

New members are still needed for their daytime choir at Pevensey Bay 12 .30-2.00pm.

As Diana says;

‘This is a brand new group, so it’s a great time to join-especially as the nights will soon be drawing in!’
