Pevensey Bay based musician, Peter Barron launches new web platform to support work described as ‘a cross between Marc Bolan and Captain Beefheart’..

In an interesting development in the locality this week, a musician has invested in a campaigning profile online that appears to have caught the imagination of people that have browsed what he has to offer. Respected net radio station ARfm has already picked up his work and featured it three times in one of their weekend programmes.

Reviewer, music journalist David McGowan, describes the work ‘Barron looks mean and moody on the excellent cover photo – like Leonard Cohen auditioning for a new Blues Brothers film’.

‘But what kind of music is this mean and moody guy who appears to have run out of Gillette Mach 3s doing?’

Talking about the opening track on the new Peter Barron album, Electric Boogie, he comments, ‘the ironic thing is that if Bolan had released this as a single it would have been huge. It certainly knocks just about everything he did from 1973 till his demise into a cocked hat and goes to prove that sometimes fans can do it better than the artists they admire. It’s a track with balls, and a great opener’.

On the homepage of his new online profile Peter, who lives along Coast Road in the Bay, describes his background and interests.

‘Born in the winter of 1957 in the shadow of Windsor Castle (but sadly lacking any blue blood), I first picked up a guitar at the age of 14 after hearing ‘Ride a White Swan’ on the radio.

‘I immediately put it down again as I hadn’t a clue how to play it – but after a while the necessary two chords* were mastered and I went on to play in various rock and pop ensembles throughout the 70s and 80s.

‘At the beginning of the 21st Century, I was reborn and rocking with a new attitude, new guitar (new hat) and a whole host of new and original tunes.

‘Jupiter Diamond’was conceived/written/recorded and published at the beginning of 2014′.
