LIN CLARK – PASSIONATE ABOUT PEVENSEY BAY
Many of you know me for many different reasons. Whether I supported you through a planning application, sorted out your waste collections, got fly tipping removed, spoke to police on your behalf, had enforcement stop a noise nuisance, or simply put you in touch with the relevant person/authority to get the help and result you needed, I have been working hard to help you. I have always worked beyond the call of duty of a District Councillor, giving to the community in many  ways, doing jobs that have taken advantage of my contacts, and really making things happen.

I have lived in Pevensey Bay for over 30 years, and became a District Councillor in 1999.  It can be hard being a “public servant” but it can also be very rewarding.  I have been proud to belong to a Wealden, which, thanks to strong leadership and a wonderful band of Officers, ranks among the top in the whole country.

My achievements as your District Councillor include fighting to have our village put on the tourism map, and setting up Wealden’s “Streets Ahead” project to look after and regenerate our high street. I have always been heavily involved in the sea defences, gaining the respect of the Environment Agency and Police, working with them on both evacuations. I have worked tenaciously on protecting our green spaces, keeping our village identity, been in liaison with the Police Commisioner over crime, traffic, and parking issues.  I have worked closely with the schools on several projects.

I founded Pevensey Villages Partnership and we have secured grants for several big projects including regeneration and promoting the village.  We have provided a series of workshops, run a conference, and brought scarecrows to the village. We are presently installing 3 Tourism displays in Pevensey and Pevensey Bay. Our next project is to make a series of video diaries about life in the villages which will be stored in the Court House Museum – maybe you’d like to be included ?

I have 100% attendance to Full Council and Committee meetings, plus many working parties, and in addition I attend both Parish Council meetings.  I have been Chairman on Standards and currently am Vice Chairman, and have been Deputy Chair on 3 other Committees.

My ear is always open to anyone who needs my help or advice. I know what is important to our village, to you all.  In 2025 we need a new sea defence contract and I am already working on gaining a good deal to protect Pevensey Bay. I am working closely with our Doctors to support our surgery and to bring a Health Coach programme to our practice.  I started fighting for our library from day one, attending meetings at County Hall and bringing in our MP. When Helen came along with her plan, I fully supported her and have since been involved with the group – and now we have our library again.  I hear that people are worried about traffic speeding and parking issues, and I have been working closely with Tom Liddiard to improve things as well as lobbying the Police Commisioner. I continue to be concerned that we keep our green spaces, and that development should not spoil our village, and will work towards keeping these issues under control.

You need your Local Council.  You need it to continue running in a way that benefits both our village and Wealden as a whole. It is important to vote for your Local Councillor – whatever is happening nationally – ignore all that this week.  I have the time which I am more than willing to give.  It is my main “job” to look after you and our local affairs.  I have always, and promise that I always will work hard for you if you put me in that position.  So please go out on Thursday and put a cross in the box next to my name.

If you would like to speak to me please call 01323 768530
