Would you be kind enough to give some publicity to a PVP project. We have been researching the Battle of the Boar’s Head, writes Carolyn Little

This was the first battle that local Pevensey soldiers fought in on the eve of the Somme. Local men won 3 military medals for valour under fire and a Coeur de Guerre. Three local men were killed in action and many others injured. The regimental history refers to it as “the Butchers Shop” The plaque is going to be erected by Royal Sussex Regiment in the Market Square later on in the year.

On March 2nd Pevensey and Westham Historical Society have a talk about the battle at Westham Village Hall given by Dr Kempsall, a lecturer from Sussex University. We really would appreciate it if you could publicise this as I think it is so important that we commemorate local history.
