Voices Choir’s ‘Summer Spectaculra’ concert took place on Friday (2 June).—Bay Life, 7 June 2017

Summer spectacular concert consolidates place of Voices Choir in affections of local community

The popular volunteer choir with ‘no auditions, no need to read music, no previous experience’ that says ‘we sing to have fun, our repertoire is varied, from Pop and Rock, to Gershwin and songs from the musicals’, is a regular feature of Pevensey Bay with weekly meet ups at the Baptist Church.

This week they are celebrating following their successful summer spectacular concert last Friday (2 June).

Choir director, Diana Terry told us, “they raised the roof with songs old and new at the King’s Centre, Eastbourne , whilst raising the amazing sum of £1800 for local charity Embrace.

“The charity works with children and families in and around the locality, and the funds raised will help those who are trying to cope with Autism and all the challenges it brings.

Talking about the fabulous crowd she said, “there were over 200 in the audience listening to the choir singing arrangements”

The arrangements were mainly written by Choir Director Diana Terry herself. She is a former West End Theatre and TV performer.

The Voices Choir has been known for a number of years as a fantastic fund raising organisation, based solely on the fun of singing in a large group together.

Sue Mills, a local Pevensey Bay resident who joined Voices Choir last year told Bay Life that ‘”it was a lot of fun”‘ and that the summer spectacular was “a big success.”

Diana Mabey said,  “the general consensus of opinion was best concert yet!”.

The new term at Voices begins 19/20th July – Wednesday evenings 7-9 at Eastbourne, and Thursday lunchtime 12.30-2.00 and also evening sessions 7-9 at Pevensey Bay.

“Everyone is welcome at Voices, and there are no auditions to endure!”, emphasises Diane.

Putting in a pitch for the next big show Diane told us “Why not try something different, and be part of our next big fundraising concert at Christmas?”

All profits from Voices Choir go to help local and National Charities.
