Owners of the Limes Bed & Breakfast, based in Westham, are celebrating this week as they mark one year in the locality with their upmarket offering

Social media commentators have noted the enviable reputation established by the business, together with their clear commitment to the locality and involvement in raising the profile of the area in relation to business and the local tourist market.

Commenting on their Facebook feed yesterday (September 29), co-owner, Christopher Eadon said;

“Well, we have been going exactly a year, and my only regret is that we did not take the plunge earlier! In that time, our little two/three room B&B has hosted 396 guests, ALL of which we have enjoyed having in our home.

“Rene and I would like to thank our guests for the fantastic feedback we have received and hope to see many of you back next year!”

Talking to Bay Life today (September 30) Chris explained how they came up with the idea for the business;

“Rene and I have always loved entertaining and cooking for friends, and had idly discussed opening a B&B or restaurant some time in the future. The trigger to open a B&B was my dissatisfaction with work. At 64, another year seemed to daunting! An income was obviously a factor, but we both felt that the time was right”.

Looking back at the year Chris added; “the most surprising thing as a result of opening The Limes is the fact that our location turned out to be so perfect.

“With a train station on our doorstep, and easy access to the channel ports, we have attracted guests from (so far 14) countries as well as couples from London wanting to explore what this beautiful part of England has to offer”.

Asked about what plans they had for the business, Chris made clear their commitment to the locality and all that it has to offer.

“Before opening, we had no idea of how we would react to sharing our house with strangers. The revelation was that we absolutely love it! With 396 guests to date, we can honestly say that we have enjoyed the company of each one.

“We are approaching a quiet season now, and are about to convert the office to another double en-suite room, as we turned away so many potential guests this summer”.
