Foodies from across Sussex are being called on to nominate their favourite food and drink producers, sellers, chefs, cooks and stores for the Sussex Food & Drink Awards 2017.—Wealden District Council, 9 May 2016

After a hugely successful 10th anniversary year, when over 10,000 people had their say on their foodie favourites, Sussex Food & Drink Awards are now accepting nominations for 2017 via their website, www.sussexfoodawards.biz, Wealden District Council will once again be sponsoring the Best Sussex Food Shop category.

“The Sussex Food & Drink awards are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate our wonderful array of local food and drink producers, markets, restaurants, shops and all those involved with the food and drink industry,” said Councillor Roy Galley, Cabinet member for Economic Development. “I’ll be especially keen to see who will follow Sharnfold Farm in Stone Cross as being named Best Sussex Food Shop.”

Nominations for six of the categories – Sussex Food Producer, Drink Producer, Butcher, Food Shop, Farmers Market and Eating Experience – will be open until 8 June, after which time a shortlist will be published for a public vote in early July.

You have a bit more time to consider your favourites for the other four categories – Sussex Newcomer, Street Food, Farmer and Young Chef of the Year – which are open for nominations up to 8 September.

Everyone is invited to nominate their favourites and businesses are welcome to nominate themselves and make sure they get the recognition that they deserve.

Grand Finalists for all ten categories will be announced in November and all winners and runners up will receive their awards in February 2017 at a BAFTA-style awards ceremony hosted by Sally Gunnell OBE and Danny Pike from BBC Sussex. This will include a spectacular seven-course Sussex produce banquet produced by Sodexo Prestige at the Amex Stadium.
