Local running legend, Phil Taylor, together with wife Mel, have now arrived in the States and Phil is starting to gear up to do business in the Washington Marine Corps Marathon this Sunday
Leaving at 3am on Thursday and with some confusion over terminals has not dented his enthusiasm or the flash of his smile, as the countdown commences.
No doubt Mel will be camera ready and Phil will stay focused on the job in hand, as a wounded Marine gets set to open ceremonies with a skydive at the start.
A group of Marine and Army veterans will parachute from a fixed wing aircraft immediately before the start of the 38th Marine Corps Marathon. The 11-member skydiving team will carry an 7,800 square foot American flag, the largest flag to be included in a performance jump…and then the 30,000 runners will be off…..

A check this afternoon suggested that staff at the bakery counter were on their eight form!!! The last few pledges on the latest form have seen people offer some substantial sums for the man and his efforts.
