Starting in September, a new series of free Street Learning Courses is launching across Wealden and Eastbourne, offering training and advice to anyone aged 19 or over from Wealden or Eastbourne in a wide range of practical subjects.—East Sussex County Council, 18 July 2016

“It’s great to see Street Learning return with such a varied and interesting programme,” said Councillor Roy Galley, Cabinet member for Economic Development..

“I encourage anyone interested to sign up. There are some excellent courses for job seekers or those looking to better themselves.

These include improving your work skills, volunteering and using computers as well as managing a budget, cooking and more creative options. Why not give it a go and get more out of life?”

Courses on offer include:

  • Improve your reading and/or writing skills
  • Improve your maths
  • How to use computers
  • Get outside and garden
  • Find out about mental health
  • Easy cooking-Eat well on a budget
  • Furniture painting
  • Preparing for work
  • What is volunteering
  • Absolute beginners carpentry
  • Overcome your fears and gain confidence
  • Yoga and well-being taster session
  • Get creative
  • Creative writing
  • Seasonal cooking
  • Try before you buy: introduction to tablet computers
  • Future focus – CV writing skills
  • Pre-Christmas financial workout

The courses are run in venues across Wealden and Eastbourne and are booked directly with the providers. Some can be arranged at timings to suit you.
