Wealden residents will be receiving a sticker for their recycling bin as a useful reminder of the items they can recycle at home.—Wealden Council, 2 December 2016
The sticker is being sent out during the first two weeks of December to residents across the District along with their annual waste and recycling calendar. It includes a more comprehensive list of items that can be recycled as well as showing waste and recycling collection dates for the Christmas period and the year ahead.
People are asked to attach the sticker to their recycling bin as a handy reminder of what can be recycled.
“In Wealden we are doing a fantastic job, recycling around 50% of our waste. However research carried out across East Sussex shows that something like a quarter of what’s thrown in people’s rubbish bins could still be recycled,” said Councillor Roy Galley, Cabinet member with responsibility for Waste Management.
“It’s easy to forget sometimes what can be recycled, especially when the whole family can be involved in putting out the rubbish. Attaching the sticker to the recycling bin hopefully acts as a reminder as to what can be recycled and will encourage people to recycle even more.”
People can help by remembering to recycle all their plastic bottles; plastic pots, tubs and trays; paper and card; foil and cans and food and drink cartons – and by keeping the recycling clean, empty, squashed and un-bagged.
