Wind speeds are up to 43mph in Pevensey Bay this afternoon, Tuesday 30 July (14:00).

Not much sign of dog walkers this afternoon and the gusts are sudden and dramatic.

The Met Office, London & South East England weather forecast says, “bright start across eastern parts, before cloud and blustery, heavy showers arrive from the west. Some showers becoming thundery by the afternoon. Windy at times, especially near English Channel coasts, where gales are possible. Maximum temperature 23 °C.

Tonight , The Met Office suggests, “showers may be slow to die out during the evening, but most areas should have a drier end to the night with clear spells developing. Winds remaining rather brisk. Minimum temperature 13 °C.

Wednesday the Met Office suggests, will be a mainly dry day with possible sunny spells, “any showers, mainly near coasts, mostly clearing through the afternoon. Breezy with strong and gusty winds near coasts”.

The outlook for Thursday to Saturday: is “little change for the end of the week with sunny or clear spells and showers developing each afternoon, possibly thundery, especially during Saturday, when it will feel warmer”.
