A new season of Wealden District Council’s Active 4 Life sessions begins this month place at sheltered dwellings across the District

It is an infectious mix of music and exercise or yoga which helps to keep older people fit and active.

“Regular exercise is important if you want to keep active in life as you get older,” said Councillor Claire Dowling, Cabinet member for Public Health and Community Safety. “The Active 4 Life sessions taking place at our sheltered schemes at Buxted, Crowborough and Westham are open to all residents and are a great way of meeting people as well as helping with fitness, balance and confidence.”

The exercises are not strenuous – many can be carried out either sitting down or standing up – are always good fun and can make a real contribution to the well-being of those taking part.

Regular Active 4 Life sessions are taking place at the following Wealden Sheltered Housing Schemes, either weekly or fortnightly:

Rumsey Court, Crowborough: Weekly – commencing Thursday 5 September 10am till 11am.- Dance and Movement
Church Bailey Court, Westham: Weekly – commencing Thursday 26 September 10am till 11am. Yoga
Buxted Court, Buxted: Fortnightly – commencing Monday 2 September 2pm till 3pm. Dance and Movement.

Active 4 Life costs £3 per person per session. The first session is free to newcomers.
