Arrangements remembering the 1953 Coronation and the Moon landing
“The St Nicolas Flower Festival is always a highlight of our year, and this will be particularly special as it is the first since the church was so beautifully restored. Our highly creative team excelled themselves last year, when the theme was ‘Storytime’.
“Many will remember brilliant arrangements such as Thomas the Tank Engine, and the remarkable recreation of Mr McGregor’s Garden. I am sure that this year’s theme of ‘Memories’ will stimulate equally outstanding exhibits. Among others, there will be arrangements remembering the 1953 Coronation and the Moon landing, while much of the South Aisle will be turned into a plant nursery! And there will be the customary cakes and other treats to be enjoyed with a cup of tea or coffee.”
The Flower Festival will take place over the August Bank Holiday weekend, from Saturday 25 August to Monday 27 August. The theme of the various arrangements will be ‘Memories’. Doors will open at 10am, except on Sunday, when Holy Communion will be held at 10, with the Festival open from 11am. The exhibition will close at 5pm each day. Admission is free, but donations will be gratefully received. Refreshments will be available throughout each day. A variety of live music will be played and visitors can try their luck at the tombola.
