The doors of St Wilfrid’s Church Hall in Pevensey Bay will open to the public at 10.00am on Saturday 26 August. Entrance is free. Donations for St Wilfrid’s Hospice, Eastbourne are welcome.
At 10.30am Alan Everard, Chairman of ACAP, will introduce James Braxton, one of the stars of BBC2’s “Antiques Road Trip”, and invite him to officially open the exhibition. J
James lives nearby in Wartling where he owns The Lamb Inn. Our patron, Nigel Greaves, who owns a Gallery in Eastbourne, behind the Grand Hotel, will also be present.
This will be followed by the presentation of “The Jeanne Gamson Award”. Members of Jeanne’s family, in whose memory we organise the event, will choose their favourite exhibit and the person who has created it will receive a beautiful pewter award designed and made by Gill Bridgestock.
During the day visitors will be able to see and buy a wide range of art and crafts, including photographs, and watch demonstrations in the centre of the hall by Jill Bennett (pastel painting), Gill Bridgestock (embossing on pewter), Melita Cullis (paper flower art & doodling “Have a Go”) and Di Jones (lino cutting).
Other exhibitors include: Jan Barron, Anne Bolland, Ann Charles, Alan Everard, Sue Fields, Pam Hackett, Rachel Hoath, Hugh Ford, Mary McIntyre, Glynis Mockford, Christine Racher, Val Racher, Corina Stupu Thomas, Sharangan & Vinusan, Hannah & Olivia. Plus a display of artwork by Michael Stringer, former Hollywood Film Production Designer & Art Director and resident of Pevensey Bay.
There will also be art books and art & crafts materials to buy. Refreshments will be available throughout the day and raffle tickets will be on sale.
At 3.45pm we will draw the winning raffle tickets. There will be 15 prizes, all donated by our very generous sponsors, and they will include original artwork, a food and wine basket, art & craft materials, dining out for two vouchers and theatre tickets.
All money raised on the day from raffle tickets, commission from sales, refreshments and donations will go to St Wilfrid’s Hospice, Eastbourne. Last year’s event raised £928.30 for the hospice.This year we hope to raise over one thousand pounds.
