During the month of May, Wealden will be loving its local markets. You’ll see it in the bright decorations, banners and buntings, celebrating the important role fresh, seasonal local produce plays in the lives of our Wealden communities.—Wealden District Council, 26 April 2017

We are joining the Love Your Local Market campaign which takes place in May to raise the profile of local markets and encourage people to enjoy locally-produced food.

Local markets are taking place in Wealden’s towns and villages throughout May. The Saturday Farmers market in Hailsham on 13 May will have a special celebratory feel. Hunters Moon Morris Dancers will be providing music and dancing.

Don’t miss them at Hailsham cattle market.

Other Farmers Markets are at: Uckfield – first Saturday of the month; Heathfield- third Saturday of the month; Crowborough – fourth Saturday of the month. There is also a street market in Hailsham every Saturday. Village markets take place at Framfield, Chelwood Gate, East Dean, Forest Row, Wadhurst; and country markets, specialising in locally-produced baked goods, are held at Pevensey Bay and Waldron. To find out dates and time, visit www.wealden.gov.uk/localmarkets .

Wealden’s Love Your Local Market campaign also aims to attract new traders – some markets are offering discounted stalls to first-timers. If you would like to find out more about this exciting opportunity please contact Sophie Hepworth on 01323 443275 sophie.hepworth@wealden.gov.uk .
