As you may already be aware, we are investigating a fatal collision which occurred in Maresfield at 7:15 am on Friday last week (25th October)
Kerry-Ann Theron was riding her motorcycle North on the Straight Half Mile when she fell from her machine a short distance from the mini roundabout at the Southern end of the straight. Kerry was then struck as she lay in the road by a car travelling South. The driver of this vehicle did not stop and has not made any contact with us.
As part of our investigation into this tragic incident, it is essential that we trace the driver of the vehicle that hit Kerry. It is possible that the driver may have felt a bump or bang but dismissed it, not recognising that they had hit Kerry, so I would appeal to anyone who felt anything unusual as they drove South to make contact with us.
We know there were a number of people using that road around 7:15 who we have not yet spoken to. If you were on Straight Half Mile around 7:15 last Friday and saw the incident, stopped at the scene or even just saw something a bit odd then please get in touch with us as your information may be the bit we are currently missing.
We can be contacted by email on collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or by calling 101 quoting Operation Westwood.
Thank you
Steve Grace
Inspector, East Sussex Road Policing Unit
