NEWS OF our photographic competition for the readers of Bay Life today (Friday 6 September), as people begin to send in their favourite shots.
From the pictures sent in, we are choosing twenty classic portraits of the Bay, presenting the pictures and giving readers the opportunity to vote on their favourite.
The competition begins on September 23 and will run for a calendar month.
The winning picture will bring to the photographer the reward of a £20 gift token from Waterstones.
First two shots from those pictures selected to go through to the final twenty are from Nicola Cashman, who tells us that ‘she has lived for a short time in Pevensey Bay and is reasonably new to the area’.
Often people new to an area can frame in words or image the particularity of a place.
Here, two well crafted images, one of an old groyne in sharp relief as the image fades to the choppy sea, and the other of some shared chips in a polystyrene chip tray with two forks on the beach, carry with them something of the spirit of the Bay.
All photographs to be considered for the competition should be sent to
Please explain something of your relationship with the Bay, background and work with images, together with when and where the images were shot.
The competition is about to begin and thanks to Nicola we are off to a good start!
