Seeing 30 people with hiz-viz jackets is evidence that Pevensey Bay means business.

Along the Eastbourne Road today (March 5) and into the village, there was a buzz of activity as councillors and residents set to, joining the Clean for the Queen Day organised by Pevensey Council, as part of the national campaign.

Great to see so many councillors with their pick up sticks and so many residents.

One resident in the Bay, working along the verges in the Eastbourne Road, as the cars sped past, stopped to talk about the event and their participation, “it was great and really well organised, that Malcolm bloke (we think she meant Malcolm Lawson, clerk to the Council), was brilliant”.

The much trawled event benefited with the weather. Whilst cold, the absence of rain until a sprinkling later on, encouraged the mass litter picking morning,

In a local cafe later in the morning at the end of the session, when asked about their views of the Day, another resident who had participated in the campaign concurred with what we had already been told. “It was really good”.

And what a difference to the verges the campaign has made!!

Congratulations to Pevensey Council for a very well organised event and to all the councillors and residents who on the morning of Saturday March 5. really did Clean for the Queen.

Malcolm Lawson, clerk to Pevensey Parish Council commented, “litter pick a huge success thank you to the 30 or so people who came along this morning and cleared as many bags of litter from the bay”.

Maurice Gilbert, chairman of Pevensey Parish Council, commented “thanks to Malcolm for coordinating this on his day off and to all those who came along and helped fill so many sacks. It was great to see a host of willing helpers. Many thanks to all”.

By all accounts the morning seems to have been a real success.
