Nick Porter, director of the new Pevensey and Westham Pre-school, with a special message to the community as the successful new venture takes a summer break.—Bay Life, 18 July 2018

What is in a label?
I have a 10 year old daughter, Chloe. Before I started working in the ‘Early Years Sector’ (as it’s officially called….I call it childcare!!) my daughter went to an ‘Outstanding’ nursery (the Farmyard nursery in Ashburnham…..it’s brilliant). At the time that Chloe attended the Farmyard it was assessed by Ofsted as ‘Good’, but as parents we knew it was definitely outstanding in every way.

When Ofsted carried out their next inspection, the Farmyard was quite rightly given the new label of Outstanding. The childcare that the Farmyard provided to Chloe was so excellent that it actually inspired me to be a childcare provider, but at the time it was only ‘labelled’ as a good.

Have you ever eaten a meal that you thought was ‘outstanding’, but a friend or family member thought it was only ‘ok’?

Judgements, or ‘labels’, can be very personal or subjective.

At Pevensey & Westham Pre-school our aim is to provide children and their families with ‘excellent’ childcare.

We want our ‘excellence’ to be judged by the children and families that come to us. I’ve attached a couple of photos that I believe depict the excellent childcare we provide. To have children that are happy, play, learn and interact well with each other is, in my opinion, excellent for them.

As we draw nearer to the Summer holidays it’s important for parents to remember to book a place at the pre-school for September. Please contact us on 07925 538730, email us on PWpre-school@tcschildcare.co.uk or visit our website www.pwpre-school.uk

Wishing all our children and families an ‘excellent’ Summer break, and we look forward to seeing you all in September.

Very best wishes,
Nick Porter. Managing Director, Pevensey & Westham Pre-school

The first contact that Nick Porter, Director of the new pre-school venture in Pevensey, had with Bay Life, was a letter that he sent to our mailbox. He offered help to the community following the sad demise of the pre-school playgroup here in January 2018. Much has happened since that letter. Amongst his many points of contact with the community, Nick now writes this monthly column  in the pages of the Pevensey Bay Journal.
