Tomorrow (Monday 7 March) sees the launch of a brand new project, Pevensey Volunteers, which will promote all kinds of new possibilities of working as a volunteer, within the extensive volunteering network that thrives locally.

The project which plans a launch social evening,  starting at 7:00pm, at the Bayside Diner, 4 Eastbourne Road, Pevensey Bay, will see speakers, and a discussion of the project aims and intentions, together with nibbles.

The up to the minute platform created as part of the project, is available for viewing from today, here on Bay Life, as part of the profile launch. Online, the project is open source, smart phone ready and presents the information about volunteering opportunities with easy to access. pen portrait, visual categories.

As well as weekly news and information, together with a useful list page of volunteering opportunities, that is updated monthly, the platform gives residents an opportunity to see at a glance the extensive range of activities that are ongoing in the locality and ways in which people can get involved in the myriad of groups.

The news resource focus enables the organisers to promote campaigns, volunteering opportunities and events in a pro-active way, updating page profiles for each group as new information becomes available weekly, much now posted on social media.

The project organisation and goals, already viewed by a few other community associations, neighbourhoods and parish councils in the Wealden area, is already attracting interest.

Organisers say that as part of the launch of the organisation tomorrow that ‘Pevensey Volunteers is applying for project funding. We applied to Wealden for funding to pay for a wifi area for the Parish, computers, iPads and a projector which could be shared between projects….”
