Liked and respected, Greg Barker, Member of Parliament for Bexhill and Battle, whose busy double life includes a role as Minister of State for Energy and Climate Change in the Coalition Government, turned up announced recently as ‘today’s special’ chalking up success on the board at the Oceanview Bakery.

Greg met residents in Pevensey Bay when he held a drop-in surgery at the Oceanview Bakery and Restaurant in Pevensey Bay last Friday (July 27).

Greg was on hand to meet constituents as they dropped by, hearing local views and concerns and dealing with local problems and offering advice. His regular surgeries are normally by appointment, but this extra “Olympic” surgery allowed for a more flexible and informal meeting.

Greg was joined by Wealden District Councillor Bill Tooley, who was also happy to chat to local residents.

Speaking in Pevensey Bay, Greg said:

“This was a good opportunity to spend more time in Pevensey Bay, meeting local residents and doing what I can to help.

Of course people can telephone or email my office and make an appointment for a regular surgery, but these drop-in sessions in easy to reach places certainly seem to be very popular.”
