The Memorial Hall in Pevensey is to set up a news service utilising Bay Life online and our newspaper, the Journal, to tap into the community
Talking today (20 February) about the news service, organisers explained that they will be utilisng the pages of Bay Life online and the newspaper to get key messages out to the community.
As well as an advertisement for a caretaker role, which will be appearing in the next few days, both online and in print, organisers say that they will be providing a calendar of events and articles about aspects of their work, including the question of a playgroup based at the Memorial Hall.
Simon Montgomery, editor of Bay Life, commented, “we agree with everything that the Memorail Hall has said to us about how they would like to utilise Bay Life and we see the new news service as a way in which the Hall and trustees can make a direct connection with the community that will be seen by everyone connected to us both online and in print.
“The business of having a news service from the Memroial Hall is also attractive, because we feel sure that local residents will want to know more about crucial questions such as the role of a playgroup based at the Hall.
“News from the Memorial Hall is a new feature in our stable of publications that we feel sure will be welcomed by all residents not just in Pevensey but also in Pevensey Bay.
“This will mean that as well as our news service linking the Parish Council and the community, we also now have news from one of the other key organisations in the locality that we can present to the community.
“The fact that a number of the key organisations in the community are now utilising Bay Life on this basis, extends the range of contact points and views and voices in the community from established organisations which will see Bay Life extending our services.
“This month we also start working with the country market in Pevensey Bay, the ways in which Bay Life is being utilised now, puts us in a prime position with a number of distinct community based organisations that sees that their message is delivered to the community
“Also of course with our advertising base and the way in which as an independent commercial news outlet we are utilised , means we can provide a comprehensive service right across the locality.
“With 24 advertisers now as promotional partners, we are seeing the extension of Bay Life into a premier position as an independent hyperlocal online web platform and newspaper that is attracting attention beyond Pevensey and Pevensey Bay.
“Preserving our precious assets, and campaigning both on the social and economic front, we can contribute to aspects of support for the fabric of the community, and with big questions like regeneration, in a consolidated way.
“We also want to support innovation in relation to our fragile visitor market and pioneering organisations that connect with the eclectic spirit of the locality.
“We now have up to 1,000 people a day visiting our pages online, and there is no surprise to see that Wealden District Council, East Sussex County Council and our MP, Huw Merriman are regular readers, because the news for Pevensey and Pevensey Bay, on an independent basis, is now finding a firm footing in Bay Life.
“We particularly want to be in a position to support sound, sustainable organisations and give the opportunity to these organiations with their own news service in the pages of Bay Life.
“We see these kinds of features as being critical to our increasing success in relation to reaching people on the big questions that face Pevensey and Pevensey Bay.
“The reason that we are successful and reach people is because we are genuinely independent”.
