Shop at Wealden Markets this May

During May, Wealden District Council is encouraging its residents to make the most of their local markets as part of the ‘Love Your Local Market Campaign’ to highlight the fresh, seasonal and local produce available in Wealden’s village and town markets.

“Wealden has an abundance of high quality food products and talented local crafts people both of which are on display in abundance in Wealden markets,” said Cllr Roy Galley, Cabinet Member for Economic Development. “We are making a fuss of our markets with buntings and more to help remind residents to drop in and take a look and I highly recommend doing so. You won’t be disappointed.”

There are monthly Farmers’ Markets at Crowborough, Hailsham, Uckfield and Heathfield, a street market every Saturday at Hailsham; village markets at Blackham, Chelwood Gate, East Dean, Forest Row, Framfield and Wadhurst; and country markets at Pevensey Bay and Waldron.

To find out when your local markets are taking place take a look at the new ‘Wealden Markets’ leaflet. You can download a copy from www.wealden.gov.uk/localmarkets, or call 01323 443275 with your address details if you would like to be sent a paper copy.

The ‘Love Your Local Market’ campaign is led by the National Association of British Market Authorities and aims to raise the profile of local markets and encourage people to enjoy locally produced food. Find out more at: www.loveyourlocalmarket.org.uk
