AGATHA CHRISTIE: A MURDER IS ANNOUNCED
Devonshire Park Theatre, Eastbourne
Tuesday 17 – Saturday 21 June 7.45pm
Wednesday and Saturday Matinee 2.30pm

Louise Jameson (Bergerac, EastEnders, Doc Martin) will have the honour of bringing Agatha Christie’s much-loved detective Miss Marple to life at the Devonshire Park Theatre from 17 –—21 June in A Murder is Announced, often considered to be the best of all the Miss Marple novels.

An unusual announcement in the local newspaper, stating the time and place of a murder, leads curious villagers to the home of Miss Blacklock. No-one is more intrigued than Miss Blacklock herself as she did not place the advert and, as the other villagers, is expecting a murder mystery game.

The victim is not one of the several occupants, temporary and permanent, but an unexpected and unknown visitor. A second death ensues and a determined Inspector grimly follows the twists and turns, with Miss Marple on hand to provide the final solution – at some risk to herself – in a dramatic confrontation just before the final curtain. Promoted as the 50th case, Miss Marple’s motto “Nothing is ever as it seems” is never truer than in this classic Christie puzzle of mixed motives and concealed identities.

Louise Jameson was recently nominated for Best Female performance at the 2013 Off-West End Theatre Awards for her starring theatre role in Gutted and is probably best known for her TV roles as Leela, companion to the fourth Dr in Dr. Who, Blanche Simmons in Tenko, Susan Young in Bergerac, Rosa Di Marco in EastEnders during the 90’s and a regular in Doc Martin.

Joining Louise in the cast of 12 are Sophie Powells (Holly Barton in Emmerdale) and making welcome returns to the Devonshire Park with Talking Scarlet productions are Phillip Stewart and Ben Roddy, last seen in the hit comedy Boeing Boeing and Lara Lemon who appeared in the Murder In The Park season last summer. More recently Jo Castleton and John Hester played in this spring’s moving In Praise of Love.
