LOST IN MUSIC – ONE NIGHT AT THE DISCO
Eastbourne Congress Theatre – Saturday 16 November, 7.30pm

It’s time to relive the decade of decadence that gave us the era of Disco! The 70’s are back at the Congress Theatre, Eastbourne for one night only (16 November ) in the show Lost In Music – One Night At The Disco, a live concert which will take the audience back to when hair was big, flares were bigger and the music was the real thing.

Get ready to recreate the magical 70’s and join a musical journey straight to the heart of Disco. Relive some of the greatest songs of all time from artists such as Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, Earth, Wind & Fire, Sister Sledge and Chic.

Audiences are encouraged to come dressed to impress as the show celebrates the golden age of Disco with songs such as Never Can Say Goodbye, On The Radio, Hot Stuff, Car Wash, Boogie Wonderland to name but a handful.

Disco was a genre that developed in clubs during the late 60s and 70s and is made up of parts of different musical traditions, including soul, funk, Motown and even salsa and meringue.

For the first eight years, Disco was mostly an underground movement, then the film Saturday Night Fever (the story of a working class store worker by day and a Disco King at night) was released in 1977 and helped turn the simmering subculture into a mainstream fad, resulting in almost every large town having a disco club of its own.

The urban New York scene and glamor of Studio 54 made it across the pond to the UK with Eastbourne joining in with local clubs and discos opening; including the Kings Country Club which had a regular disco night, it also hosted the European Disco Dancing Championship and welcomed stars of the genre including The Three Degrees in 1978!

A reaction to the hippy culture of the 1960’s Disco was loud and proud, the music, the outfits, the dance moves. It was an era that burned so bright, by the 80’s it had all but faded, but for one night it’s coming back to the Congress Theatre.

From the producers of hit shows, Magic of Motown and Fastlove (the George Michael tribute) comes this adoring love letter to the music of Disco, a hugely talented band and live singers present a night of pure 70s nostalgia, reminding audiences why these songs and Disco will never die!
