The Sussex Express offers a full list of local people recognised for their services this morning in the New Year Honours list. Included in the list are people whose work charity work and services to education, literature and the arts have all been rewarded



Local people recognised—Sussex Express list

Michael Brophy, of Uckfield, was made a CBE for services to the voluntary sector in the UK.

Matthew Dunkley, who was director of children’s services for East Sussex County Council, based in Lewes, and now lives in Australia, was also made a CBE for services to children, young people and families.

Paul Fallon, of Lewes, independent chair, Croydon Safeguarding Children Board and Trustee, Crime Reduction Initiatives, was made an OBE for services to child protection.

Ms Aideen Jones, of Seaford, lately Chief Executive, Southdown Housing Association, was made an OBE for services to people with intellectual disabilities.

Mrs Anne Bell, of Lewes, was made an MBE for services to literature and the arts.

Children’s illustrator John Davis, of Heathfield, was made an MBE for services to children’s literature.

Miniature artist Mrs Elizabeth Meek, of Seaford, was honoured by being made an MBE for services to the arts.

Mrs Joan Cusack, of Ditchling Common, a reading volunteer at Woodlands Meed School, was made a medallist of the Order of the British Empire for services to education.

Also a medallist was Mrs Isabel Stephenson, of Seaford, for services to the community in Seaford, through Seaford in Bloom
