JOBSBOARD Part time staff, Royal Oak and Castle Inn, Pevensey

rowena and iwona

Last Saturday (5 May), Pevensey Bay Library closed its doors

Over the previous couple of weeks many books have been returned and the two staff that have weathered all the uncertainty – Rowena and Iwona will eventually be moving on to new posts in the county’s library service.

It is such good news that two people who are so committed to the library service will continue to support it in new positions elsewhere. Between them they have over fifty years; service in East Sussex County Council Libraries.

Rowena started work in Hastings library at the age of 16yrs and her career includes a spell in the Mobile Library before coming to Pevensey Bay just over13yrs ago. Iwona has worked for the library service for 15 years – eight of them in Pevensey Bay.

Since the proposed closure of the library was announced they have simply carried on providing the calm professional service that we have all got used to. Fielding all the questions for users as best they could, they didn’t let their own personal worries about their uncertain future employment prospects show. Two terrific people, committed to a job they love – we wish them well.
