New BP Garage, Pevensey
I stopped there today (2 October) at around 2pm to fill up my car with diesel and as I was about to uncap the fuel tank, I reached to put car key into my pocket. My key fob slipped out of my hand and fell through a very large grate immediately next to the car.
Apparently this grate covers a channel drain collecting water, petrol and diesel all of which then flow into various tanks thus making it impossible to retrieve anything which has fallen in.
The helpful staff assured me that quite a few objects have been lost in this way.
Why have these grates not been covered with some sort of smaller mesh in order to prevent these extremely costly losses?
