Idea for Car Meet

Could you tell me about how I would go about trying to organise a car meet up in the Sea Road Car Park, the event would be for families and kids, a get together for car people, maybe in the winter or something?

Literally just meeting up, for people who share the same hobby, for either modified or standard cars.

Literally, a meet up, no revving or anything, a static pose and meet.

Yours

Editor response:
This sounds like a good idea. The Vehicles of Yesteryear ‘static and pose and meet’ in the Sea Road car park once a year in April is a big success and draws families and people to the Bay for all the right reasons. The event also identifies a key part of our profile.

The event that you describe sounds like a lot of fun, particularly as you say, if there is a draw for families.

The profile of the Bay in our view, would benefit from such an initiative.

The car park is owned by Wealden Council, all the details are here on their website. Initially we suggest that you write to Pevensey Parish Council, through their clerk, Malcolm Lawson. Notes offered by clerk to the council on their new social media feed are useful, authoritative and well written. You can contact Pevensey Parish Council here.

Notes offered by the clerk to Parish Council meetings are equally informative and authoritative. For example, he gave a précis of the pattern of twitters in the locality at the last council meeting, in answer to a question about rubbish that had appeared in the neighbourhood. The answer was a textbook example of information from a clerk to a parish council. He may well be in a position to suggest how you should proceed with this idea.

The Parish Council is now increasingly pro-active. They are about to promote a ‘wish list’ across the community, which is a sequence of 40 excellent ideas to engage with the community.

A number of these ideas, which have all come from the community, touch on aspects of events that could promote the community

We see your suggestion as one such possible event

We will be happy to publish the response. from Pevensey Parish Council. Part of their suggestion will quite possibly be to communicate with Wealden Council and we will also be happy to publish any response that they might offer you as well.

Good luck with you event idea. We will follow what is said about a possible car meet up event with interest.

We will also include your interesting letter in our new tabloid Journal to be published next week.

Thanks for contacting us.
