To the editor

Beach huts on the beach in Pevensey Bay? The first thing that comes to mind is “why has it taken so long” ?

I have lived in the Bay for almost seven years, and have strong feelings about encouraging the sense of community here. I am the founder and Director of Voices Choir, who perform at local fundraising events and raise thousands of pounds for charities each year. I worked with the team on Pevfest and the Dickens Festival, and have developed a Community Garden on Beachlands.

For the last three years, I have rented a Beach Hut…in Eastbourne! So many people stop by when I am there; some for a chat, some ask to look inside. If we had huts on our beach in the Bay, it would definitely promote a sense of community and enforce that “seaside memories” feel.

May I add that Eastbourne has not just huts for people to rent long term, but also four huts that can be hired by the day, which may be a good idea for the proposed Bay huts.

Put my name down on the list….a great idea!
