Defibrillator to be installed in the Market Square in Pevensey
A few months ago I started a campaign to raise money for a Defibrillator to be installed in the Market Square in Pevensey – these pieces of life saving equipment often get overlooked in rural villages when towns have plenty of large charities to raise money for purchases. – one in a thousand people may suffer sudden heart failure each year and considering the numbers of people in Pevensey whether visitors, residents, Local Businesses, Castle etc. there is definitely a need for a Defibrillator in the village.

After Quizzes, markets, donations and finally a Grand Village Draw (Last Wednesday) all the money has been raised and the equipment purchased and now subject to the final agreement from Wealden Council will be fitted soon in the Cattle Market Car Park.

Many thanks to those who donated prizes for the Village Draw (Huw Merriman MP, Priory Court Hotel, Royal Oak and Castle, The Smugglers, The Heron, Hilliers Garden Centre, Ruby Grooming, Pevensey Town Trust, Tescos Express, Haven Garage, Laurie Wilkinson, Castle Cottage Tearooms) and the British Heart Foundation and of course for everyone who has supported the events.

We will soon be organising training courses – although using a defibrillator is fairly self explanatory (the machine will guide users through its operation)

I have decided to continue Fundraising and am now considering raising the money to install a Defibrillator in Pevensey Bay possibly at the Ethel Wood Hall (if they give permission) as again Beachlands and Coast Road and of course users of the Hall could benefit. So has anyone any fundraising ideas or want to join in this new campaign – will you host a quiz, coffee morning, sale or join in with the new campaign – let me know.
