keep me posted

I had a long conversation with a senior person at SGN yesterday and I am passing on the salient points to reassure residents.

The road has to be closed because under the concete it is shingle and this needs to be moved by a grabber as they dig down which would effectively close the road anyway because lorries have to take away the material. They then put in an aero bar type foam concrete which needs time to set.

Regarding possible risks due to flooding and any potential evacuation the necessary pumps are being stored in Polegate and SGN will be on 24 hour stand by. They will have steel plates by each hole and if evacuation is required they will drop them over so that vehicles can pass by.

ESCC have filled a large number of potholes on the road to Sluice Lane and they will have 12 hours a day Stop/Go boards manned so that traffic can move more freely. Our MP Huw Merriman is putting some pressure on Stagecoach to get smaller school buses.

This pipe work is absolutely essential as the pipes by the traffic lights are particularly weak.
