Wealden District Council’s Land Charges team has won two awards for Customer Service at the 2016 Local Land Charges Awards for Excellence._Wealden District Council, 11 March 2016

The Land Charges team – who provide vital legal information about constraints that affect a property such as Tree Preservation Orders and relevant planning history, which need to be taken into consideration when a property is bought or sold – were joint winners of the Best Customer Experience Award and highly commended for the Customer Satisfaction Award.

“Good customer service is very important to us in Wealden, so we are pleased our Land Charges team has done so well in this year’s national awards,” said Councillor Ann Newton, Cabinet member for Planning & Development. “We are one of the largest rural district planning authorities in England and an efficient, speedy service is important to our local economy. I would like to congratulate everyone in our Local Land Charges department for once again putting in such a tremendous performance.”

To win the National Land Information Services’ Best Customer Experience Award, local authorities are asked to demonstrate what value added processes they offer to make the land search process easier, helping everyone involved in the buying and selling property chain. The Customer Satisfaction Award is based on the votes of solicitors and conveyancers who work with local authorities across the country. Nearly 60 local authorities took part in this year’s awards. Wealden shared the Best Customer Experience Award with the London Borough of Barnet.

The Best Customer Experience award was presented to Wealden’s Land Charges team leader Mandy Hockin by TV personality Mark Durden-Smith at an awards ceremony in Bristol.

Wealden District Council has a strong track record in the Local Land Charges awards. Its Land Charges team won the Best Customer Experience Award in 2015, were winners of the Best Electronic Service Delivery in 2012 and were the Best NLIS Local Land Charges Department in 2011.
