KEN DODD’S HAPPINESS SHOW
Congress Theatre
Sunday 10 August 2014, 7pm

2014 marks Ken Dodd’s 60th year on stage and the legendary comedian shows no sign of slowing down as he continues once again on the annual 100,000 mile UK tour of his Happiness Show, stopping at the Congress Theatre on Sunday 10th August, 7pm.

Remarkably, Ken has not stopped entertaining since he turned professional in 1954, and today continues to pack theatres over the length and breadth of the UK. And after 60 years as a top entertainer, he still loves nothing better than being on the theatre stage.

“I’m lucky because I never get tired of entertaining and making people laugh” he adds, “Well, I do sometimes, but it doesn’t last for long! I think I’ve only had one day off in my entire career – and that was for suspected pneumonia. I was back on stage the next night with a mustard patch on my chest. The doctor insisted that I wore it, but all the stage hands kept rubbing their ham sandwiches on it, so it had to go!”

The accolades that Ken has received over his entertainment career are too vast to mention suffice to say not only was he awarded the first ever ‘Living Legend Award’ from the British Comedy Society’ but is also famed to have knocked none other than The Beatles off the No.1 UK chart hotspot in 1965 with his track Tears, right at the height of their popularity!

Catch up with Ken’s ventriloquist dummy Diddyman Dicky Mint, sway along to Ken’s hits including Love is Like a Violin and Happiness and prepare to be tickled pink in this happy show full of ‘plumptiousness’ and ‘gertitude’.

Ken Dodd will appear once again at the Congress Theatre on Sunday 10th August at 7pm, until late, very late! Tickets are £20 and £22. Call the box office on 01323 412000 or book online at www.eastbournetheatres.co.uk.
