EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL ELECTIONS 2017
Pevensey and Stone Cross Ward news
In communication with By Life this morning, independent candidate for the East Sussex County Council elections to be held this week on May 4, Daniel Brookbank, who lives in Pevensey Bay, explains the need to think about the protection of our unique environment for the future, as well as his 100% commitment to local library services—Bay Life, 30 April, 2017
Daniel told Bay life “Pevensey Bay has a unique environment that is protected by a contract that spans 25 years.”
“The Environment Agency works tirelessly to ensure that we are kept safe from flooding. That contract will be up for renewal in about nine years time so we need to start thinking about the future of it.
Looking at the situation now he said “At the very least it needs to continue in its current form but when rising sea levels and climate change are taken into account there could be a need for something more robust and radical.
“We might need to look at upgrading some of the old rotted wooden groynes for example”.
Talking about the forthcoimng election he said “If I am elected to be the County Councillor for Pevensey and Stone Cross I would make sure the negotiations for the contract would be robust and appropriate. I would look to ensure that the right funding comes from Central Government and East Sussex County Council.
Daniel went on to look at the situation with the local libray here in Peveney Bay, the subject of much debate in the community over the llast eighteen months. He indicated, “over the next two years East Sussex County Council will be carrying out a review of the Library service provision across the county. I am 100% committed to our Library in Pevensey Bay staying open and I would work with the Council to make that happen”.
Talking about the ward now known as Pevensey and Stone Cross he explained that he has responded to further requests for information. “Quite a few people have asked me why I am calling the ward Pevensey and Stone Cross rather than Pevensey and Westham. In the latest boundary changes the Boundary Commission redrew the boundary on our ward and renamed it. However, rest assured, I am fully committed to everyone in our ward including Westham”.
A vote for me on the 4th May is a vote for someone totally committed to the people of Pevensey, Westham, Stone Cross and all the surrounding area.
