The Hot Five coming to St. Nicolas in Pevensey on Bank Holiday Saturday will mark the moment the church raises the roof with their innovative funding initiatives to accompany their 800th anniversary year celebrating the church being at the heart of the community
The Hot Five have played and recorded with some of the most famous jazz, and big bands in the United States, Europe and UK
The ‘Hot Five’ includes the founder of the PRO, John Arthy, a bass player, Keith Nichols keyboard, Ron Drake saxophone, Martin Wheatley guitar and Andy Woon, trumpet. All have played and recorded with some of the most famous jazz, and big bands in the United States, Europe and UK, and for a long list of legendary jazz and swing singers.
“It will be the first ‘Jazz Night’ to be held in the 800 year-old church, which has seen many extraordinary things happen in its history, but never full-on jazz! We are in for a feast of fun and enjoyment. Our acoustics will ensure everybody hears everything loud and clear!’ says George Stephens from the church who has arranged the concert as part of its 800th anniversary events season.
