Flooding is possible – be prepared

Monday morning’s tide at 11:45 on 10/02/2020 is higher than normal due to Storm Ciara which brings strong Force 7 winds and large waves.

The weather increases tide table values by 0.64 m. The total forecast tide is 7.98 metres Chart Datum (4.33 mAOD) at Eastbourne.

For 2 hours either side of high water, the road at Herbrand Walk may flood, and could be impassable to traffic.

Beach top properties at Pevensey Bay will be affected by spray. Strong winds, large waves and high tides are expected throughout Sunday 09/02/2020 and Monday 10/02/2020.

High tides, large waves and the risk of flooding will remain similar until Thursday 13/02/2020.

We continue to monitor the forecast. Avoid Pevensey beach at high tide. Spray and waves will contain and scatter shingle which is dangerous. Plan driving routes to avoid Herbrand Walk.

We will update this message by 19:00 on 10/02/2020 in advance of the high tide at 00:30 on 11/02/2020.
