Wealden District Council is holding free energy-savings advice sessions on Friday afternoons at Hailsham Food Bank to help residents save money on their energy bills this winter
The first session – from 2 to 4pm – will take place on Friday 24 October during Big Energy Saving Week and will continue every Friday for the coming weeks. Hailsham Food Bank is located at Sheriff Place, at the rear of Link Shop, 1 George Street, Hailsham BN27 1AD.
“Energy bills are the number one financial concern for many households,” said Councillor Graham Wells, Cabinet member with responsibility for home energy efficiency.
“We opened an energy pop up shop in Hailsham for a week last April and helped 350 people reduce their energy bills – the average amount saved was £200. I am sure savings like these can be made by many more people.”
“According to Department of Energy and Climate Change statistics, nearly 5,000 Wealden residents are living in fuel poverty. There is much to be gained by seeking free expert advice about reducing energy bills. Justin Bailey, Wealden’s Home Energy Efficiency Officer, will be pleased to help on Friday afternoons as we provide free advice sessions at the Hailsham Food Bank for a trial period.”
The first energy advice session coincides which Big Energy Saving Week which runs 20-24 October. It aims to get as many people as possible to:
Check their energy bills, improve household Insulation and consider Switching energy suppliers.
