Local resident, Shirley MacKinnon writes (4 February), oould it be possible for you to promote this information please? A Group and event that many of our local people might like to know about.

Eastbourne Access group and the Beacon are hosting an access event at the Beacon centre on Saturday 6 June- a free open event for all disabled people living with any impairment, their families and carers.

There will be stands on advice, information, transport and mobility, activities for children and young people, as well as an arts zone featuring local theatre and arts facilities. Stagecoach are taking part and Barclays Bank are also supporting the event.

The Access group is currently seeking a new chairperson of the group and are keen to hear from a disabled person of any age or disability, a carer or someone with an interest in disability access issues to work with the group’s enthusiastic team of volunteers.

The access group produce the annual Eastbourne Guide for disabled people, host access events and campaign on barriers to access affecting disabled children and adults.

To find out more about the chair’s role email info@eastbourneaccessgroup.org.uk, or text/phone 07810 317 185. Go to eastbourneaccessgroup.accessibleeastbourne.net for more information.
