EAST SUSSEX HIGHWAYS: UPDATE: WORK IN COAST ROAD: Credit to East Sussex Highways. Useful and comprehensive information here to residents on Monday (28 November) . Both phases of work now to be carried out in 2017. “This reschedule means that both phases will be carried out in the New Year”.—Bay Life, 30 November 2016

Coast Road, Pevensey
Update: Monday 28th November 2016
Dear resident,

As you are aware, SGN have recently finished both of their phases of the Coast Road project this week, a week ahead of schedule.

In order to limit disruption to residents and local businesses over the Christmas period we have taken the decision to carry out both phases of our works in 2017. We originally planned to carry out these works in two phases, one before Christmas and the second after Christmas. This reschedule means that both phases will be carried out in the New Year.

Phase One
The first phase of our works will take place on 28 January 2017 and will take around 8 days to complete, including weekends.

These works involve breaking out two concrete bays where movement in the slabs has resulted in ‘ramps’ on the surface of the road. These will be broken out and the area will be relayed with asphalt.

During this time the same diversion route will be in place as before, via Sluice Lane. As we will be working east of Pebble Lane, all those who live west of Pebble Lane will be able to enter and exit Coast Road from the Wallsend Road end.

Phase Two
We will be carrying out jointing works between Wallsend Road and Beachlands and carrying out some pothole repairs. We will be carrying out resurfacing works to the east of Beachlands up to the private section, excluding one section which was privately resurfaced.

This work will take place on 6 February and will take around 5 days to complete.

During this time the same diversion route will be in place. All those who live in Beachlands or west of Beachlands will have to enter and exit Coast Road via the Wallsend Road end.

We will be continuing the shuttle bus service that was in place during the SGN works for the duration of our works.

We apologise for any inconvenience the change in our works causes. If you have any questions regarding our works then please contact us on 0345 60 80 193.

Many Thanks,

East Sussex Highways
