Jan Barron, who for many years was an active member of the community has died after a short battle with cancer.

As well as being the advertising manager with the Parish Pump, diligently seeing that the money came in to support the publication and seeing that the magazine was distributed to every household here, she was also very involved in the artistic community here both as an organiser and talented painter and illustrator.

Jan who worked for the BBC as a production assistant on a number of well known dramas, such as the Onedin Line, was also an activist in the vegan movement and involved in many campaigns here, such as the fight to save the library.

Bay Life will be publishing a full tribute to her, and her work in the coming month.

We send our thoughts and love to her husband Peter. Commenting on his twitter feed (October 27), Peter said,

“Very sad to have to tell you that after a short but brave battle with cancer, my beautiful wife Jan passed away on Friday 25th October… I miss you and I’ll love you forever x”
